Artisanal bakery, MAK, gets its name from the Polish word for ‘poppy seed’, one of the most prevalent and time-honoured ingredients in the country’s pastries and breads. Double Decker developed the brand identity and visual direction, which was intended to exhibit a modern twist on signature 1950s styles and – just like the poppy seed in local culture – summon a sense of comfort and nostalgia.
The supporting graphics we conceived convey an attitude of youthfulness and subtle eccentricity, reflecting the creative scene in the area of Kazimierz. With this accessible approach, MAK becomes the true representation of a neighbourhood coffee shop – a destination that says, “come in, get inspired, eat, enjoy your coffee and be yourself.”
