The Danish ceramist Steen Ipsen describes himself as a curious perfectionist who fires his pieces up to four times before he ties them up with coloured strings of PVC or leather. Recent collections, such as the “Tied-up” and the “Organic” series below, are informed by decades of research and the resulting knowledge on material and technique.  The final sculptures elicit a complex feeling of stability as well as constraint.
