Combining art and garbage is a tricky endeavour – sometimes more, sometimes less successful. We believe Jami hit the nail on its head with her surprising sculptures that are part of the current exhibition “Border Crossing” at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. Her work links ancient pottery-making with the iconography of plastic bottles found close to the U.S.-Mexico border. We leave it up to you to count all the borders she is crossing with this, literally and metaphorically.
